  • Making money in grades?

  • What if one told you that you could make money by guessing grades? Surely, you would think it is absurd right? But now a website allows students to place a bet on their grades. If the bet comes through in favour of the student then the student ends up making money.

This website was started to encourage students to score well and get into the competition and yeah, earn some money. The website allows students to place a bet on how much they will score on tests in class. The students themselves can decide on how much they want to bet for, i.e. the wager.

The start limit for betting is $ 25 and as the wager increases, the website puts up the numbers. If the student who has placed the bet manages to score the particular number on the test then they win the entire amount. If they do not win then they need to put in that money.

When the makers of this website were questioned they stated that they wanted students to be motivated always. They wanted kids to push themselves to reach their potential goals and therefore, they came up with something that is fun yet makes you work hard. Also because kids want instant rewards these days, it works fine.

The bet money acts as an incentive the student earns for the hard work they put in to score according to the bet they have placed. Plus this website gives schools and high schools the records. This means it is not only about fun but they mean serious business when it comes to scoring on tests.

The website also takes other factors into consideration such as the history of the college, the class timetable, the level of difficulty of the subjects being taught and the nature of the subject. There are two types of bets that the website allows, one being the reward bet where if the student scores well, they earn money through wager and the other is the grade insurance which is the money the student will make when they bet for failing the class.

To make sure the bet work fine, the website then conducted a pilot program with the New York University and the University of Pennsylvania. The highest amount a student won was $150. But there is a limit to which the students can bet as the highest bids and rewards are meant for college students. One can start at $ 20 if they are betting on their GPA scores. And if the student happens to score well then they can make up to $ 2000.

Because the website has worked as a motivator for students to score well and earn some money, it will be extended to 36 educational institutions now. However, some people have reservations about it. They do not like the fact that education is being placed on the platform as gambling.

This however has made many students happy and their scores have gone high. This means so far none of the institutions have had an issue with this betting website.
