We all know that the American President Barrack Obama is a person most of us look up to. He has a commendable following especially amongst the youth. Both the President and the First lady are known to be people who are genuinely concerned about the people of America.
And all those present at the Kalamazoo Central High school, will vouch for the above fact. The president believes that we all will have our shares of ups and downs. In his 17 month long presidency, there have been quite a few good things as well bad things. And this is something he wants the graduating students to learn as well.
He addressed the crowd gathered; a mix of graduating students as well as members of the staff and parents that life is all about opportunities. We all must work hard but doing so does not guarantee that we will be on the top always.
And not being on the top is not a good enough reason to stop trying. Plus when you are low you are bound to make mistakes and yes, hurt the people you love the most. Yet, there will come a time when you can turn around things and ask for forgiveness. But this will not happen if you are not willing to try.
In the case of education it is the same. If one is not good at one subject it doesn’t mean that they should give up studying completely. If this was to happen then the whole of the American nation would be suffering. It is important that we concentrate on subjects that we like and do well. Also pay that extra attention to the subjects we find difficult.
It is rightly said that life gives you lemons and you have to take the pains to make the lemonade. Similarly, life gives us many opportunities and we need to make the most of them. Excuses will never get us anywhere. But being responsible is something that we should learn to be.
The President chose to speak at this particular school because it is located in a place that was almost destroyed completely by a deadly natural calamity. And the school is now struggling to stand back on its feet. Obama feels that this is the perfect school to set an example with.
If the school was to give up trying then the scores of children and students here would have had a tough time trying to relocate to better schools in areas far away. But the school has not given up and is trying to give the best to its students. Hence the school stands as the perfect example for life – one must never give up.
The school feels responsible and hence, the students should feel responsible as well. Everyone wants to party and play the fool but there will come a time when you would want to look back and ponder upon your life. And if you have given up then there will be nothing to look back at.
In many ways this act by the President is brilliant. It shows us how life is not a bed of roses and surely studying is not easy. But education is very important to one and all. One must pursue it.
