  • A Rhode Island School board decided to fire the entire faculty of a poorly performing school but more than this the entire country had mix reactions when President Obama endorsed this action and supported the cause. He believes that there should be strict action taken against schools which do nothing about students who keep on failing.

Unless and until something is done the level of these schools won’t change. A fear has kicked in among all the other school boards in the country because they would have no choice if the state demands it.

A $3.5 billion federal school turnaround program has been activated at the same time so if a school rejects the demands of the state then the funds just might be stopped by the Government. Worse than that is worrying condition of teachers around the country.

In this example a faculty of 93 members was instantly fired from their respective posts which leaves them no choice but to search for another opening. Mrs. Petrilli said that,” All the teachers and the staff have voted for President Obama and he is here to support us in order to take some radical actions in improving the conditions of the schools around the country.”

The procedure took a toll in Boston when it was announced that the staff members of six underperforming schools would have to reapply for their jobs. Defending this decision was the schools superintendent Carol R. Johnson who added by saying that we are not going to fire people we are just asking them to recommit themselves to their jobs. The state is ready to help them by providing any other services needed so that the teachers can get the students back in class and performing well.

Another side of this decision was a large group of unhappy teachers who had a big hand in Obama’s victory and strongly campaigned for him back in the year 2008. Zeph Capo, a medieval official at the Houston Federation of Teachers said that as soon he found out about this the first he did was rip off Obama’s sticker from his car. He was angry for the fact that the school he worked for had completely supported the President when he was up for elections and today it feels as if we’re going to have to dig a knife out of our own backs.

The Education department supports Obama’s decision in favoring such these actions because a live example which shows that last year 7% of 11th grade students had passed in Math. The final word here is that if the schools want their equal share out of the $3.5 billion assigned then the schools have to transform their failing institutions into learning environments.

The Government is not against the teachers in these schools, it just looks out for improvements which might help to bring about better results. Some are saying that this might even hamper Democrat’s electoral chances in November.
