  • United States is one of the world renowned educational hubs which have always been known for its quality education. Also the different universities situated in various states are a huge attraction not only for the native population but then also for international students.

The universities have a lot of facilities and flexibilities to offer when it comes to paying fees for any educational course. The entire educational system is considered to be very smooth and easy going. But then recently, there have been reports of fee hike in a majority of the universities and other colleges which has lead to numerous protests all over the country.

Racism has also been identified as one of the major reasons for the protests carried out by these students against fee hike. Colleges and universities have hiked their fees up to 30% which approximately turns out be $10,000 per year which is unacceptable by most of the students as then the universities would become really costlier and then many students won’t be able to afford the education.

The government should take adequate measures to solve the problem and bring the situation under control because majority of the students who study in these universities fund and manage their education by themselves.

Parents of most of the students have also decided to join the rallies and the protest march has been taking place all over the country. The students consider the fee hike to be exploitation of the public education and they only want to raise awareness regarding the entire ongoing scenario which is very disturbing.

Some of the administrators and alumni from most of the colleges are also supporting this political movement which has been aimed at bringing positive change in the entire education system. There are meetings being held by the management in accordance with the students protest against the fee hike.

Moreover the demonstrators and protestors are being arrested and taken into judicial custody and booked under trespassing. According to the students there is no apparent reason for the sudden fee hike whereas the university officials argue that the decision for increasing the fees by 30% in all the universities has been taken to prevent further financial crisis. There also a group of students who feel that these protests will not yield any results as their classes are being cancelled which in turn is a huge loss for them only.

The fee hike has been implemented for the next two years and will cause a great amount of inconvenience to the working middle class students who rely on public education. Most of the students will now have to take extra educational loans to pay their college and school fees which just increase the burden further.

Due to this fee hike there have been a lot of layoffs in the last few days. Parents, teachers and students are all on the streets with raised slogans protesting against the fee hike. Some of the students started with the demonstrations inside their college campus to display their disapproval against the educational system.
