  • United States is considered to be the superpower in comparison to other economies and hence the educational system of such a country is also rich and diverse with multiple options for not only the native population but also for international students. United States educational system requires a person to have a thorough knowledge of the basics about the entire education process.

    Some of the world’s best sought after educational programs are offered in US schools and colleges. The system of education is different in every state and there are public schools where the education is taken of care by the state government.

    US education system provides quality education. It is mandatory to attend school for twelve years after which a student can acquire specialization in any field from a university. An international student is required to have an overall knowledge of the entire educational system which would help him to make the right choices regarding his career.

    The education system is divided into various levels ranging from high school education, liberal arts, associate degrees, bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD. The United States education system provides an edge in terms of quality of education delivered as it has a wide range of choices in every field.

    Education is mandatory in United States till the age of 16 after which a student can opt out with parents consent. The education in most of the schools is divided in primary and secondary levels. In addition to secondary education certain schools also have the provision of Advanced Programs (AP) which enable students to take lessons in the selected courses by top notch faculty. IB is another option offered by most of the public as well as the private schools. All the educational institutions in US are certified by the state government to operate under the leadership of either public or private sector.

    There are two stages of studies which is the university level and the non-university level. Non- university level usually concerned with the bachelor’s degree which again consists of diploma or a certificate under a particular field. The university level deals with more advanced studies offering professional degree, master’s degree or a PhD. To acquire a professional degree a student has to study two years more after bachelor’s degree. It can either be done full time or part time based on one’s preference but part time students take relatively longer time to complete the course as compared to others.

    A teacher has to undergo training at regular intervals under the United States educational system in order to fulfill the educational requirements. If a teacher wishes to qualify for bachelor’s degree or master’s degree then she is required to pass the qualifying exams and attain a certificate. Continuous professional training produces highly competent and well informed teaching staff which can take the responsibility of each and every student. The education system in United States provides vast employment opportunities to every student as it is the most popular education system in the world.
