  • In the state of New York of the United States of America a Mr. David Patterson has been charged of stealing hundreds of millions of dollars which was reserved for school payments, in Albany. The money had been authorized by the legislature and the school authorities said that Patterson had no rights over it. In their opinion it is a willful violation of the law.

Shocks ran down through several spines when this situation was brought to light. The lawsuit against Mr. Patterson was drafted by the New York State United Teachers. In deep regret they said that money that was reserved for schools and its welfare was stolen by the Governor and that they never thought that they would witness something like this.

Patterson said that he wants the revenue and the economy to improve otherwise the money that he with held would be used as the basis of next year’s budget deficit. In his defense he said that he was withholding money because it was a part of the $750 million of the local aid and he would not let the money be distributed because the state was pretending to be bankrupt by the end of this year.

He denied all allegations and said that the people and the State of New York are blaming him for keeping the money of the State solvent. He said that he was helping the State of New York and was putting its welfare before the people of the state.
He also said that filing a law suit against him would not help the serious cash problem that is awaiting the State of New York. The people who went against Mr. Patterson were the state teachers’ union and groups representing school district superintendents, school board members, heads and administrators. They were of the opinion that the children of the State would suffer because of Patterson.

The authorities also said they would have to dip further and make efforts to raise money for the school welfare all over again because of the money with held by Patterson. L. Oliver Robinson, president of the New York State Council of School Superintendents and superintendent of the Shenendehowa School District outside Albany, said due to Patterson’s behavior the money would be removed from other critical necessities for the school welfare now.

The president also painfully mentioned that when we went to visit the schools the children with regret questioned whether they will still have their school and play ground. A spokesperson said that there was already enough money reserved for the school welfare in the defense of Mr. Patterson.

Mr. Lubin has suggested several methods to get over the lost money like charging more taxes to the richer population. He is extremely sad about the money that has been illegally controlled by Mr. Patterson which is affecting the little school going children. He also said that measures would be taken to ensure that the school children and the school do not suffer.
