The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act aims at laying long term prosperity foundation as well as providing jobs. $5 billion is allotted for early learning programs such as child care, early head start, head start and programs for children with special needs.
An amount of $77 billion is allotted towards strengthening secondary and elementary education through powerful reforms out of which $48.6 billion is allotted towards stabilizing education in states. These funds are geared towards making improvements in the effectiveness of teachers and ensuring quality education. There will be assessments on a rigorous scale that will enhance college standards.
Effective interventions and intensive support will be provided to schools that are low in performance. There will be an effort to improve teacher performance and student learning by providing enhanced data systems and right information.
In order to chart ambitious reforms and spur innovation, the act provides competitive funds to the tune of $5 billion. Increased access to affordable college education will be provided to students through a funding of $30 billion.
For the economy of America to survive, it is vital providing children with high quality education. The global economy today is based entirely on innovation and knowledge and it is important equipping every child to succeed in their career. Through this act, President Obama promises every student access to competitive and comprehensive access to education right from kindergarten to their career.
As we all know, the years prior to kindergarten shape a child’s outlook and President Obama is hugely committed to providing the right impetus and support to them in order to enable them to succeed in their later school life.
States will be urged to focus on empowering the early learning settings that are publicly funded and provide children with newer outcomes and opportunities along with engaging parents in the development and learning of their children.
Public schools in America will prepare every child to face the challenge of new global workplace with the help of the President. Curriculum will foster critical thinking, innovative use of knowledge and problem solving skills aided by academic standards at par with the best in the world.
Accountability and assessment will be state-of-art that will actually aid students to monitor and assess progress. The President will also ensure professional teaching environment and teachers will absolutely be held responsible and accountable for student performance. Teachers will be helped by President Obama to improve the outcomes of students as he will be investing in innovative strategies.
Outstanding teachers will be rewarded by him and he will ensure focus on appointing only the brightest and best of them. States will be asked to expressly remove teachers who are not up to the standards set by the act.
According to President Obama, innovation and reform must necessarily accompany investment in education. Charter schools of high quality will be expanded and states will be challenged allow growth of charter schools by lifting stifling limits.
