Universities and colleges in America provide fantastic opportunities for students to take part in various extracurricular activities. Not focusing only on academics, these institutions ensure a balanced growth of the student. A student joining a college in the US can explore a variety of extracurricular options depending on their interest.

This experiential learning is all about gaining valuable experience outside the traditional classroom. As a student, taking part in these group activities is highly encouraging as it provides the ideal platform for meeting new people, develop skills as well as gain awareness. This in turn has a positive impact on academics as well. Whether you are an International student or from America, this is one aspect of academic institutions in America that promises to offer a highly rewarding experience.

Schools in America offer a variety of diverse group activities including music, arts and sports. There are clubs that cater to students from different countries. You can also contribute your time and services to various charitable organizations such as the Habitat for Humanity and Amnesty International. If you are a strong environmentalist, you could join an environmental group to address current concerns. If you are politically inclined, you could join a political group that have frequent meetings to discuss the global, national, state, regional and even local political issues. If you love debates and discussions, you could join one of the debate clubs where you can enjoy interacting with students from different disciplines.

Campuses in America offer a variety of opportunities for students inclined towards artistic interests. There are various musical recitals, art exhibits and theatre events or even poetry reading sessions going on continuously. It is not very difficult finding groups pursuing interests such as gourmet cooking, dancing or even creating music and art. Whatever is your interest, you can be sure of finding the right group to interact. Your advisor will be able to put you on to the right group for you to interact. Surprisingly, you will find yourself focusing more on your academics too by keeping yourself busy with activities that you enjoy.

All major US campuses offer plenty in sports. There is one for almost everyone here. If you are inclined professionally, you can take part in competitive matches in sports such as basketball, volleyball, tennis and baseball. If you are the outdoor type, you can enjoy golf, skiing, cycling, boating and hiking. If you want to take part in sports but are not really familiar with any, you can join one of the courses offered at the colleges. You could opt for courses in racquetball, swimming and karate which are offered in most campuses.

The amount of quality time you spend at your US University or college depends entirely on you. You can take the help of your advisor in choosing the art or sport activity that you are passionate about and joining the relevant group. It is up to you to work out a healthy combination of academics and extracurricular activities to enjoy your course to the maximum.
