  • During the summer children and teenagers need to get outside more often and use up their energy. If you have the skills and are willing to help in this manner, make up a sports camp for your area or neighbourhood. Go back to your high school or elementary school, broach the principal and coaches and ask if you can put together a day camp for a certain age group. Ask three friends to join you who are responsible and hard working to make up stations and teams.

    1. Each team makes up t-shirts and a name and a mascot
    2. Begin at the beginning for each sport because most of the students will not know how to play a certain sport and they will want to learn the proper skills
    3. start with fun games and drills to warm up
    4. always have fun and no competition is necessary
    5. Each day let one team have a turn picking the game or sport
    6. Parents are to provide the snacks and drinks which should be nutritious for their own children
    7. Fridays could be pot luck with everyone bringing something to share
    8. One day of the week, one or two students teach a new skill or a new game to the others
    9. Parents may join in the fun and have a game
    10.  Make sure you have permission, medical details and contact phone numbers in case of an injury or emergency
    11.  If someone has a peanut allergy, don't allow them to share food
    12.  Make sure everyone is included and not left out.
    13.  Ask your coach for his old learning manuals to devise new games or tactics
    14.  Make sure all campers have plenty of water and sports drinks and rest periods
    15.  Above all else play safe and have fun
