UT's race-conscious admission policy facing Supreme Court test

The University of Texas has successfully defended its use of affirmative action in admissions before a federal judge in Austin and an appeals court in New Orleans. Now it must attempt to do so in a much tougher venue: the marble and mahogany chamber of the U.S. Supreme Court.

The high court announced Tuesday that it would review the challenge to UT's policy by a white student who claims she would have been accepted but for her race.
