Working collaboratively with clinical departments, Facilities, Information Technology, Supply Chain, Finance, architects, engineers, contractors, equipment manufacturers, and other project stakeholders, the Project Manager will ensure medical equipment requirements and technical dependencies are incorporated into project schedules and deliverables. The position will support effective project execution through schedule and budget tracking, risk management, stakeholder communication, documentation, and project closeout. This role will help ensure medical equipment and associated technologies are ready to support patient care in newly constructed, renovated, and expanded clinical environments.
Responsibilities*
Plan, initiate, coordinate, and manage assigned medical equipment and clinical-space projects from initial planning through final project closeout.
Coordinate medical equipment requirements with construction schedules, architectural and engineering plans, clinical workflows, infrastructure needs, and project deliverables.
Collaborate with clinical departments, Facilities, Information Technology, Supply Chain, Finance, architects, engineers, contractors, equipment manufacturers, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are understood and addressed.
Coordinate medical equipment procurement, specifications, vendor activities, delivery schedules, installation requirements, and resource planning in alignment with project milestones.
Track project schedules, milestones, dependencies, deliverables, budgets, and capital project expenditures; identify variances and communicate potential impacts to appropriate stakeholders.
Identify, assess, document, and mitigate project risks, issues, and dependencies that could affect project schedules, equipment readiness, costs, or clinical operations.
Coordinate medical device networking and technology integration requirements with appropriate Information Technology and technical teams to support equipment readiness and connectivity.
Develop and maintain project documentation, including schedules, meeting records, action items, status reports, risk and issue logs, equipment plans, and closeout materials.
Coordinate equipment installation, testing, acceptance, and readiness activities to ensure medical devices meet applicable project requirements before clinical use.
Support clinical activation, transition planning, and go-live activities by coordinating equipment availability, stakeholder readiness, outstanding deliverables, and issue resolution.
Facilitate project meetings, communicate status updates, monitor action items, and maintain accountability among internal and external project partners.
Coordinate project assignments and resources with Clinical Engineering leadership and other project-management personnel to support effective portfolio management and prioritization.
Identify opportunities to improve project-management processes, documentation, communication, scheduling, and coordination across Clinical Engineering initiatives.
Ensure assigned projects align with Michigan Medicine operational requirements, applicable institutional policies, established project processes, and patient-care priorities.
Build productive working relationships across organizational levels by communicating effectively, resolving conflicts, adapting to changing priorities, and facilitating collaboration among multidisciplinary teams.
Required Qualifications*
Bachelor's degree in project management, engineering, biomedical engineering, healthcare administration, business administration, a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, or an associate's degree in biomedical engineering technology.
Demonstrated experience coordinating projects involving multiple stakeholders, competing priorities, schedules, and deliverables.
Strong organizational, planning, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and establish accountability for project activities and deliverables.
Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, prioritize competing demands, and respond effectively to changing project requirements.
Experience developing project documentation, maintaining schedules, tracking milestones, and preparing status reports.
Demonstrated ability to identify project risks and issues, coordinate resolution, and communicate potential impacts to stakeholders.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with departmental leadership and institutional partners.
Proficiency with standard computer applications used for project planning, documentation, reporting, and communication.
