  • Job Description Summary:
    The Fitzhugh Mullan Institute for Health Workforce Equity, in the Department of Health Policy and Management, is seeking a Senior Research Assistant to work as a Data Analyst across various projects. The position will support qualitative and quantitative analysis of workforce issues. Specifically, the incumbent will focus on initiatives such as the Social Mission Metrics Initiative and the SENTRY (Surveillance of Enrollment Trends and Representation Yearly) Monitoring Project of health workforce diversity.

    Responsibilities will also include supporting a variety of projects focused on the diversity of the health care workforce. Tasks include cleaning and analyzing federal data sets, creating data visualizations for reports and presentations, and drafting and editing reports and manuscripts.

    Responsibilities Include:
    Survey administration and management using Qualtrics and other CRM software (e.g., Salesforce), data collection, data analysis, report generation, data visualization, and helping manage team logistics and communications.
    Developing monitoring and evaluation tools for the collection, analysis, and dissemination of findings
    Evaluating large datasets for consistency, completeness, accuracy, and reasonableness
    Qualitative data collection (e.g., key informant interviews, focus groups) and analysis
    Cleaning, understanding, transforming, and analyzing datasets with an emphasis on federal datasets
    Identifying and correcting data entry errors
    Summarizing results for inclusion in scientific and clientele-oriented publications, including the development of graphs and tables
    Drafting, editing, and distributing technical publications, reports, and manuscripts
    Drafting, submitting, and tracking IRB-related functions.
    Conducting literature reviews
    Setting up and managing communication with participants and institutions
    Presenting data findings at conferences, webinars, and briefings
    Support of Principal Investigator in writing grant proposals

    Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
    Minimum Qualifications:
    Qualified candidates will hold a BA/BS and 1 year of experience in a related discipline. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.
    Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications:
    Preferred Qualifications:
    Bachelor’s degree plus one year of relevant experience is desired or a master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
    Demonstrated interest in social mission, public health, health workforce, healthcare education, or health policy;
    Excellent research, writing, and editing skills;
    Proficiency in or ability to learn Excel, Qualtrics, STATA, SAS, and R within 3 months of hire is preferred;
    Strong project management skills are a plus;
    Strong knowledge and application of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies is desired;
    Excellent communication, analytic, and organizational skills;
    Sharp attention to detail and ability to deliver high-quality work within deadlines;
    High degree of professionalism and demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-sector project partners.
    Entrepreneurial with the ability to work independently, with a team, and to spark independent project concepts.

    Preferred additional skills:
    Experience using Tableau or other data visualization tools is preferred
    Experience developing concept notes and grant proposals is a plus
