  • Job Summary
    The Department of Radiology is seeking a Project Manager to lead and execute a portfolio of operational, strategic and business initiatives across the Department. Reporting to the Chief Department Administrator, this role partners closely with a number of leaders & stakeholders, including the Associate Chair of Operations, Quality and Safety, the Vice Chair for Operations & Strategy, and Division Directors.

    The Project Manager will drive the planning, execution, and delivery of projects that improve clinical operations, access, quality, resource optimization, and program growth. This position requires strong project management skills, cross-functional collaboration, and a hands-on approach to operational problem-solving. This position requires a high degree of flexibility with the ability to work proactively, as part of a team, with initiative and creativity.

    The candidate serves to advance strategy and quality program objectives across the Department of Radiology, and in alignment with Michigan Medicine priorities and strategic plans, including tracking and reporting of key performance metrics overtime.

    Responsibilities*
    Manage a portfolio of divisional and cross-functional projects, ensuring alignment with departmental priorities and timely execution
    Serve as project manager, bringing together stakeholders to see through various operational and division level initiatives in the areas of process improvement, operation performance monitoring, resource allocation, expense management/revenue optimization, data management
    Develop project plans, timelines, and deliverables; track progress and ensure accountability. Ensure completion of detailed schedules for projects from initiation to delivery and keep key stakeholders informed of any deviations
    Participate in the planning and activation of new program development projects including project tracking, team facilitation, change management. Monitor status of projects including cost, timing, and staffing
    Conduct data-driven assessments of clinical operations (workflow, capacity, utilization) and identify improvement opportunities
    Design and implement operational and care delivery initiatives in collaboration with faculty, technologists, nursing, and administrative teams
    Lead workflow optimization and operational improvement efforts to enhance efficiency, access, and quality
    Support standardization and scaling of best practices across divisions
    Partner with leadership on cross-divisional initiatives, including access improvement, site-of-service optimization, and care model innovation
    Coordinate with internal stakeholders (operations, IT, finance, quality, facilities) to support project execution
    Assist with evaluation, planning, and implementation of new programs, partnerships, and growth initiatives
    Track and report key performance metrics; support continuous improvement efforts
    Required Qualifications*
    Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of experience in project management or operations
    Experience managing complex, cross-functional projects in an academic medical center
    Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
    Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
    Demonstrated ability to:
    Partner effectively with stakeholders at all levels of an academic and a corporate enterprise,
    Interact with and build professional relationships with faculty and staff at all levels,
    Think strategically, logically and exercise sound judgment,
    Lead a team and also be a good team member,
    Organize a project with attention to detail, make decisions, and achieve results on-time,
    Manage cross functional unit projects and/or teams which include project planning, task management, status reporting, etc.
    Rapidly pick up the necessary understanding of the business or scientific principles of a project to allow for an intelligent conversation with the staff and faculty champion
    Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
    Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and within a team with minimal supervision
    Proficiency in computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments with sound project management skills
    Excellent collaborative leadership style
    Proven track record of executing strategic and/or operational improvements in a complex health care environment
    Desired Qualifications*
    Master's degree in business or health care related discipline
    Knowledge of Radiology operations or clinical workflows, strategic initiatives
    Familiarity with process improvement or project management methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma)
    Experience using Epic
