    SUMMARY OF POSITION

    The Director of the School of Nursing holds the responsibility for Nursing’s academic enterprise on the campus. The director’s position involves both School of Nursing and campus specific responsibilities. The director provides leadership for the School of Nursing and in that capacity reports to the Dean of the College of Health and Human Services who reports to the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. The director is a member of the campus faculty organization, the local campus nursing council, and participates in faculty governance as elected or appointed.

    FUNCTIONS
    Responsible for the operational management of the nursing program and its services
    Directs and supervises the nursing staff
    Oversees strategic planning for the School of Nursing as related to the campus and College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) mission and goals
    Represents the campus, School, and the profession to various communities and constituencies and in professionally related activities
    Collaborates with regional health care service executives on mutually beneficial issues surrounding healthcare and nursing education
    Facilitates the development, implementation, and evaluation of the infrastructure for the School of Nursing
    Oversees development and management of resources for nursing in consultation with the Dean of the CHHS.
    Provides leadership for faculty in achieving academic excellence and maintaining accreditation standards
    Promotes and maintains communication with faculty, staff, and administrators
    Teaches and maintains scholarly productivity as appropriate

    Basic Qualifications
    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
    Demonstration of a strong background of administrative experience in a complex organization
    Record of teaching and scholarly achievement appropriate to a tenured faculty appointment at a senior professorial rank
    Documentation of significant contributions to nursing higher education
    Knowledge of current issues in health care, nursing, and higher education
    Positive vision for nursing in a changing health care system and varied society
    Evidence of highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
    Licensed as a registered nurse in Indiana or eligible for endorsement.
    Earned doctorate (PhD or DNP), nursing major preferred. If doctorate is not in nursing, a master’s in nursing is required.
    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
    Leadership or administrative experience in an academic setting (e.g., department chair, program director, or associate dean).
    Experience with curriculum development, program accreditation, and strategic planning.
    Demonstrated ability in budget management, faculty development, and student advisement.
    Familiarity with accreditation standards (e.g., CCNE, ACEN) and regulatory compliance.
    Experience with interprofessional education and clinical partnerships.
    Advanced certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
