    The Department of Music at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Music specializing in voice and musical theatre. This is a joint appointment with the Department of Theatre and Dance. Appointment begins August 2026.

    Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music and the National Association of Schools of Theatre. The Department of Music and the Department of Theatre and Dance are highly active units of the School of Arts, Media & Communication. Construction of a new music/theatre/dance/arts building began in May of 2024 and completion is expected in Fall of 2026.

    Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities are teaching applied voice for both music and theatre majors and leading musical theatre coaching and musical direction. Secondary responsibilities may include teaching music-focused courses in musical theater or other related classes depending upon the candidate’s strengths and departmental needs. The successful candidate will be expected to work within a team-oriented departmental culture, and to undertake other duties according to the needs of the department.

    Qualifications:

    A completed MFA in musical theatre or DMA in vocal performance and/or vocal pedagogy by the time of appointment is required.

    Demonstrated ability to teach applied voice, lead musical theatre coaching, and music direction is required.

    Evidence of ability to be a successful teacher, scholar, performer, and congenial colleague is required.

    Piano proficiency, demonstrated success in recruiting and retaining students, and experience with interdisciplinary collaboration are highly desirable.
