Assistant Professor of Computer Science – Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity (Tenure-Track)
The Department of Computer Science, Engineering, and Mathematics at the University of South Carolina Aiken (USCA) seeks applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor in Computer Science, with specialization in Artificial Intelligence in Cybersecurity to begin on January 1 or August 16, 2026. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research and teaching intersect AI, cybersecurity, and the integration of AI software and systems. While not required, experience in software engineering, secure software development, or AI-enabled software and systems engineering will be considered a plus.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or Doctorate in Computer Science or a closely related field from an accredited program by time of appointment; however, ABD will be considered with degree conferred by time of appointment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate both the qualifications and enthusiasm to teach courses in Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity. This includes courses such as Cloud Computing, Cloud Security, AI in Cybersecurity, and Malware Analysis. Additional expertise in secure software development, software engineering, or AI-enabled software engineering will also be considered. An active research agenda is expected, with a strong commitment to involving undergraduate students in research. Faculty are also expected to contribute to the department’s graduate program in Computer and Information Sciences. In addition, faculty at USCA have opportunities to collaborate with regional and national partners, including the South Carolina National Guard, the U.S. Army Cyber Center of Excellence and the U.S. Army Cyber Command at Fort Gordon, and the Savannah River National Laboratory. These collaborations provide rich opportunities for joint research, student engagement, and external funding. Salary is commensurate and competitive with qualifications and experience.
The Department of Computer Science, Engineering, and Mathematics at the University of South Carolina Aiken (USCA) offers a B.S. in Computer Science with concentrations in Data Science, Cybersecurity, and Gaming & Simulation, a B.S. in Software Engineering, and a Master of Science in Computer and Information Sciences with concentrations in Information Technology and Cybersecurity.
