Position Information:
Serve as the North Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station Ag Facilities Manager and oversee construction and maintenance of facilities and modification and fabrication of equipment.
Description & Details:
Work Schedule: Full-time, 12-month position (40 hours per week) during standard NDSU office hours. Due to the nature of this role, the employee must be occasionally available on call to respond to facility emergencies or urgent project needs.
Hiring Range: Commensurate with experience
Pay is based on several factors, including budget, labor market, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and/or certification and other business considerations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Three or more years of experience in facility/construction management
Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, an agricultural discipline (e.g. Plant Science, Plant Pathology, Soils, Natural Resource Sciences), Biology, Engineering, or a related field
Demonstrated experience leading, managing, and supervising people
Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
Experience reading blueprints
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders and be a representative of an institution such as NDSU
Self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in bid letting process
Experience managing projects, meeting deadlines, and achieving project objectives
Knowledge of state laws, NDUS, and SBHE policies regarding construction projects
Knowledge of building codes including NFPA (National Fire Protection Association), IBC (International Building Code), ADA (American Disability Act), state electrical and plumbing codes
Two or more years of supervisor experience
Core Competencies:
Lead Capital Project planning for the North Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station (NDAES)
Serve as the Project Manager for construction and repair of NDAES facilities. Work with Architects/design teams/contractors to ensure successful projects in compliance with state laws, NDSU, North Dakota University System (NDUS), and State Board of Higher Education (SBHE) policies.
Maintain files showing approved authorization, budget amounts, and other information for each capital improvement project.
Oversee maintenance and extraordinary repair efforts of the NDAES Main Station, Research Extension Centers, and the Agronomy Seed Farm.
Primary Ag Facilities Liaison with Campus Offices, Main Station Farm Operations, AES Greenhouse, and Vet Diagnostic Lab
Develop budgets and approve payments to vendors with assistance from Ag Budget Office.
Lead periodic Master Plan process for NDSU Agriculture
Supervise Greenhouse Manager & Ag Service Center Staff
Maintain insurance coverage for NDAES
Manage land holdings and easement requests
Other duties as assigned
