  • Job Summary:
    This position will support the Konopka Lab, led by Dr. Adam Konopka. The Konopka Laboratory has a translational research focus on the biology and metabolism of aging.

    The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to ongoing research projects focused on the nutrient sensitive pathways and mitochondrial physiology in the context of aging. The position involves oversight and record keeping for ongoing data collection and analysis for human and animal biospecimens. This may include evaluation of mitochondrial energetics, processing peripheral mononuclear blood cells (PBMCs), immunoblotting, performing histology and immunohistochemistry, and primary cell culture. Some administrative duties are also involved such as of inventories, ordering, and logistics.

    Responsibilities:
    Develops, designs, and conducts one or more research projects and organizes daily operation of projects and specialized research areas to ensure work meets established objectives under moderate supervision.
    50% Conducts research experiments according to established research protocols with moderate impact to the project(s). Collects data and monitors test results
    25% Operates, cleans, and maintains organization of research equipment and research area. Tracks inventory levels and places replenishment orders
    10% Reviews, analyzes, and interprets data and/or documents results for presentations and/or reporting to internal and external audiences
    5% Participates in the development, interpretation, and implementation of research methodology and materials
    5% Provides operational guidance on day-to-day activities of unit or program staff and/or student workers
    5% Performs literature reviews and writes reports

    Education:
    Preferred
    Bachelor's Degree
    BA/BS in physiology, biochemistry and/or cell biology preferred

    Qualifications:
    Prior experience in a research lab strongly preferred. Experience with research project management strongly preferred.
