    This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Administrative Program Assistant position for the Department of Microbiology at Oregon State University (OSU).

    The main duties of this position will be graduate program coordination, department course scheduling support, and travel and event coordination for the Department of Microbiology. The position reports to the Assistant to the Microbiology Department Head. The Administrative Program Assistant will work with faculty, students, staff, and the department head to provide administrative, logistical, and programmatic support.

    The primary mission of the OSU Microbiology Department is to provide a program of undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral education in microbiology and to conduct research and scholarly activities in the diverse fields of microbiological study. The department offers BS degrees in Microbiology and BioHealth Sciences, and MS and PhD degrees in Microbiology. The department has about 24 faculty members (tenure-track and fixed-term), 27 graduate students, and approximately 900 undergraduate majors.

    50% Microbiology Graduate Program Coordination

    What We Require
    Three years of office experience which included two years at full performance level and experience generating documents; and Lead work responsibility or coordination of office procedures.

    This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months. Offers of employment are contingent upon meeting all minimum qualifications including the Criminal History Check Requirement.
    What We Would Like You to Have
    Academic program support experience.
    Event coordination experience.
    Strong computer skills including productivity and communication software (e.g. MS Office and Outlook).
    Ability to take initiative and determine the appropriate resources needed to resolve problems.
    Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
    Demonstrated ability to balance a diverse and varied workload, managing multiple projects and activities on overlapping timelines.
    Working Conditions / Work Schedule
    Typical office environment and a Monday-Friday 8am-5pm schedule. May require infrequent work outside of normal office hours to support graduate events (a few days each year). This is an on-site position (not remote). Regular and punctual attendance is required.
