  • Job Responsibilities

    The purpose of the position is to support the information needs of Enrollment Management and the university through the analysis and communication of information in meaningful ways that promote data-informed decision making, planning, and resource allocation.

    The Sr. Research Analyst will report to the Research Associate in the Enrollment Systems and Analytics dept but will support the entire enrollment management division and work collaboratively with multiple campus units with its inquiries that require statistical analysis. Sample topics for analysis are demand segmentation analysis, probability modeling to anticipate enrollment behaviors, proactive and retroactive research surveying to identify new and important variables to new student enrollment and retention, financial aid econometrics and award strategy analysis and more. In addition to the production, analysis and distillation of information, the enrollment statistical analyst will identify improvements in how RIT assesses enrollment performance from new insights that can only be found in additional data research.

    This individual will manage, interpret and manipulate complex data sets using programming, data engineering and analytical skills. This individual must demonstrate consummate communication capabilities in assessing information needs for an array of professional staff and will possess expert skills in contemporary reporting and analysis tools (i.e. R, SAS, Tableau, OBIEE, etc.)

    The Sr Research Analyst will manipulate and provide data used institutionally for strategic and budget planning as well as to external bodies. The Sr Research Analyst will provide information to/for IPEDS, Common Data set, NACC, NYSED, Middle states, Princeton Review, US News and more.

    The Enrollment Systems & Analytics team in the Enrollment Management division is a remote workforce that is connected via technologies and communication tools. There could be occasions where trips to campus maybe required.


    Required Qualifications

    Specialized Skills:
    Bachelor’s degree and 3-5+ years of experience in an analyst role;
    Curious, problem-solver with keen interest in understanding consumer behavior, tracking and forecasting trends.
    Ability to understand the requirements of a business operation, and build data solutions to answer questions and recommend strategic pathways
    Demonstrated proficiency with Tableau, Crystal or equivalent data visualization software, advanced knowledge of visualization techniques
    Demonstrated proficiency with R, SAS, or equivalent software. Advanced skills in creating and executing complex programs
    Ability to extract data out of CRM, SIS or other campus systems (Query development, SQL)
    Excellent analytical and quantitative skills
    Ability to perform multiple file record matching and data manipulation
    High attention to detail and accuracy
    Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    Ability to collaborate effectively with others
    Ability to communicate effectively via a remote setting
    Flexibility and willingness to assume new tasks and special projects
    Preferred:
    Advanced degree in data science or a related field
    Experience with Sigma ProSam or other Financial Aid software
    Experience with Oracle PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, PS Query, SQR and/or App Engine
    Experience with Slate (Ping, and/or configurable joins)
    Work experience in a higher education setting
