A fully funded one-year postdoctoral position is immediately available for a Ph.D. holder in Chemistry or Engineering in Dr. Juliana Souza’s lab at the Federal University of ABC (Universidade Federal do ABC) – Brazil. The position may be extended depending on funding renewal.
The research project focuses on the development of hybrid materials composed of chiral plasmonic nanoparticles of Au, Pd, and Pt, combined with chiral semiconductor metal oxides of WO₃ and TiO₂, for applications in hydrogen generation. The objectives include optimizing the synthesis methods of these nanoparticles and preparing chiral oxide structures via a microwave-assisted hydrothermal route. The project also aims to investigate the reaction mechanisms of these materials using advanced techniques such as Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS), and to explore their application as photoanodes in photoelectrochemical processes for hydrogen production. The materials will be tested in photoelectrocatalytic and hydrogen generation processes.
Job Duties

Minimum Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Chemistry or Engineering
- Strong experimental skills in materials science, as demonstrated by publications
- Working proficiency in English

- The candidate must hold a Ph.D. and is expected to be highly engaged and proactive in driving their research projects
- Strong work ethic, scientific rigor, and excellent communication skills are essential
