Our country’s economic future depends entirely on the quality of education we provide our children today, says our President. Children must be provided education that will help them survive in this tough innovation and knowledge based global economy to ensure the path of American Dream and the country’s economic competitiveness. President Obama says that right from cradle through career, he is committed to providing competitive and complete education for every single child.
Focus is predominantly on early childhood education as the most critical period when influence learning is effective is before the child joins kindergarten. Our youngest children have our President’s complete support and commitment which will help them prepare for their later success in school.
From birth to age five, a comprehensive and seamless act of support and services is provided for children by our President. All early learning settings that are publicly funded will be urged to set high standards. States will be urged to introduce programs that will enhance outcomes and opportunities, improve early education workforce and engage parents in their child’s early development and learning.
To prepare students to perform optimally in the new global workforce, our President will ensure that all public schools will be reformed enough to deliver 21st century education. Students will be effectually prepared for college and career through his commencement challenge Race to the Top. This program will help foster innovative use of knowledge, problem solving abilities and critical thinking and will help our country out educate competitors and reach the 2020 goal.
State of art accountability and assessment systems are in and off the shelf, ineffective traditional tests are out. With the new methods, it is easier to obtain useful, timely information on individual student’s progress and learning.
In the life of children, teachers play a major role. Our President is all set to hold them accountable as well as support them professionally in the classroom. He will focus on improving student outcomes by investing in innovative strategies. To retain talented teachers in schools that depend on them, he will use incentives and rewards.
Outstanding teachers nationwide will be rewarded and the brightest and best of them will be recruited to teach. School and state districts will be challenged to remove teachers who are ineffective.
He strongly believes that innovation and reform must accompany investment in education. Charter schools of high quality are supported by him and he has put forth a challenge for states to identify and do away with limits that hinder growth of successful charter schools.
Regaining lost ground in higher education is the top priority for President Obama who is very serious about achieving highest number of graduates by 2020. Towards this, he wishes to ensure that every single American must enroll for a year of job training or higher education after high school this is the only way to combat future economic situation. Though the goals seem over reaching, the enthusiasm with which our President is working towards it gives us a lot of hope.
