Stanford University neuosurgeon in training selected for White House fellows program

Anand Veeravagu, a neurosurgeon in training at Stanford University's School of Medicine, has been appointed to the 2012-13 class of White House fellows, the Office of the Press Secretary announced Tuesday.

Veeravagu, the only Californian among the 15 U.S. residents admitted to the highly competitive program, most recently served as chief neurosurgery resident at the Palo Alto VA Health Care System, caring for soldiers returning from Afghanistan with traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries.
