University of Michigan reputation improves worldwide, survey shows

The University of Michigan increased its reputation across the globe last year, bucking a trend that saw U.S. public universities slide down the list in general, a new survey found.

The 2012 Times Higher Education World Reputation Rankings attributed the drop in reputation for most of the nation's elite public universities to the ongoing slashing of state and federal aid for the institutions.
