Trial date set in Rutgers suicide case

A former Rutgers University student accused of using a webcam to spy on his roommate's encounter with another man is likely going to trial.

Dharun Ravi (DAHR'-uhn RAH'-vee) on Thursday turned down a plea deal that would have put him in prison for no more than five years. A judge set a Feb. 21 trial date.

The 19-year-old Ravi faces charges including a hate crime and invasion of privacy. He could face 10 years in prison if a jury convicts him of the hate crime.
