F.B.I. Investigates Assaults Near Michigan Campus

The F.B.I. has joined with area police departments to investigate six assaults on young women, including two rapes, near the University of Michigan campus during the past two weeks.

The assaults have jolted the community of 108,000, which normally would be enjoying the quiet weeks between the Ann Arbor Art Fair in mid-July and students’ return to campus in early September for fall classes.

“I always thought Ann Arbor was so safe,” said Amanda Ahadi, 19, a University of Michigan sophomore.
