University of Arizona President Robert Shelton has been named as the new leader of the Fiesta Bowl.

Shelton was named head of the Fiesta Bowl in a statement that was released late Monday afternoon.

The Fiesta Bowl was seeking a successor to former CEO John Junker, who was terminated earlier this year after an internal bowl report outlined inappropriate spending and campaign contributions. The organization hired Shelton and gave him a new title: executive director.
