Supreme Court Sides With Roche In Patent Battle With Stanford

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled Monday that Stanford University can't win a patent infringement case against a Roche Holding AG (RHHBY, ROG.VX) subsidiary because the company held co-ownership interests in the patents, which deal with measuring HIV in blood samples.

The court's ruling for Roche came in a 7-2 opinion written by Chief Justice John Roberts.
