University of Michigan and Google expand digital publishing agreement

University of Michigan expanded its historic agreement with Google Inc. that will increase the public's access to millions of digital pages of U-M library books and journals, the university announced Wednesday.

The enhanced access was made possible because Google reached a settlement with the group of authors and publishers who filed a class action lawsuit in 2005 for copyright infringement. Announced last year, the settlement expands the amount of text to be scanned, makes it available for free....
