  • Job Overview
    The Ohio Cyber Range Institute is seeking a dynamic and experienced Instructional Designer to focus on the design, development, and delivery of interactive cybersecurity training experiences, with a strong emphasis on motion graphics, multimedia content, and immersive learning environments. The role integrates instructional design best practices with advanced production using Adobe Creative Cloud, Articulate (Storyline 360, Rise 360), and H5P, while supporting course deployment and maintenance across Learning Management Systems (LMS).



    The position also contributes to the development and execution of OCRI educational programming, including course operations, learner engagement, and continuous improvement of training aligned with the project’s statement of work.



    This is a grant-funded position; the continuation of this position will be based on the availability of funds and the continuation of the grant.



    This position is 100% on-site but may offer flexibility for a hybrid work option once training is complete. Hybrid work arrangements are subject to change in accordance with the School of Information Technology telework policy and university policies.



    Please note that this position is not eligible for H-1B or permanent residency sponsorship.

    Essential Functions
    Assisting in the creation of animated cybersecurity scenarios (e.g., phishing or ransomware awareness).
    Developing simple animated diagrams or visual explainers for technical concepts.
    Editing video content and adding motion elements such as titles, transitions, and callouts.
    Supporting interactive animations within Articulate Storyline modules.
    Creating basic animated microlearning content and visual aids.
    Advanced motion graphics expertise is not required at hire but a willingness to learn and develop these skills is essential.


    Instructional Design & Multimedia Development

    Assist in the design and development of interactive eLearning modules using Articulate Storyline 360, Rise 360, and H5P.
    Apply foundational instructional design principles to support development of learner-centered content.
    Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to translate cybersecurity concepts into accessible learning materials.
    Familiarity with generative AI for content creation


    Motion Graphics & Animation Development

    Support the creation of motion graphics, animations, and video content using Adobe Creative Cloud (After Effects, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, Photoshop).
    Contribute to multimedia assets that enhance learner engagement and understanding.


    Learning Management System (LMS) Support

    Assist with course deployment and updates in LMS platforms (Canvas, D2L/Brightspace, Blackboard, or similar).
    Perform basic LMS administrative tasks, including:
    Uploading course materials and SCORM packages
    Assisting with course setup and organization
    Supporting enrollment and access issues
    Troubleshooting basic content delivery problems
    Learn and apply best practices for LMS-based course delivery and accessibility.


    Collaboration & Professional Development

    Work closely with project team members, faculty, and staff to support course delivery and program goals.
    Participate in training and professional development opportunities related to instructional design, multimedia tools, and cybersecurity education.
    Stay current with emerging tools and practices in eLearning and multimedia development.
    Required Education
    Bachelor’s Degree
    Six (6) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
    Required Experience
    Two (2) years of experience in course building or course design.

    Salary/Hourly Pay Rate Information: $57,700 - $64,900
