  • Job Summary
    The Michigan Medicine Brachial Plexus Program is seeking an Occupational Therapist to join a specialized, patient and family centered team supporting individuals with complex neurological and peripheral nerve conditions across the lifespan. This is a unique opportunity to be part of an integrated clinical program that prioritizes collaboration, continuity of care, and meaningful functional outcomes within a leading academic medical center.
    This position splits time between a multidisciplinary brachial plexus clinic, where the Occupational Therapist partners closely with specialty providers, and an ambulatory therapy setting that provides follow-up and ongoing care. You?ll work with both pediatric and adult patients with brachial plexus injuries, peripheral nerve disorders, and congenital conditions in a coordinated, team-based model.
    Care is delivered across the full continuum, including evaluation, conservative management, surgical preparation, post-operative rehabilitation, orthotic intervention, education, and long-term functional management. This role also offers opportunities to contribute to program development, quality improvement, and educational or research initiatives.

    Responsibilities*
    You will provide direct patient care designed to restore and maximize function by utilizing evidence-based treatment interventions while working in coordination with a multidisciplinary treatment team.


    Supporting responsibilities include:

    Deliver care across the continuum, including evaluation, pre-operative preparation, post-operative rehabilitation, and long-term management
    Provide patient and family education related to diagnosis, treatment planning, splinting/positioning, and recovery expectations
    Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including orthotic intervention and use of rehabilitative technologies
    Coordinate care with interdisciplinary team members and support transitions across care settings and community providers
    Contribute to patient care planning within the multidisciplinary clinic model
    Participate in program development, quality improvement, and educational or research initiatives as assigned

    Required Qualifications*
    If licensed before 1/1/2007: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy.
    If licensed on or after 1/1/2007: Master's or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy.
    Satisfactory completion of an internship program.
    Current Michigan Registration in Occupational Therapy and NBCOT membership

    Desired Qualifications*
    Minimum of 1 year experience in an adult neurological therapy setting
    Experience in pediatric rehabilitation or working across the lifespan preferred
    Experience with any/all of the following diagnoses across the rehabilitation spectrum:
    Peripheral nerve injuries
    Brachial plexus injuries
    Traumatic brain injury
    Spinal cord injury
    Orthopedic trauma and upper extremity conditions
    Congenital or developmental conditions

    Experience using rehabilitative technology, including functional electrical stimulation (FES), neuromuscular electrical stimulation, and robotic upper extremity technology
    Experience with upper extremity orthotic design, fabrication, and management
    Interest in interdisciplinary care models, program development, and/or clinical research
