    Licensure through the Kentucky Board of Respiratory Care and Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) through the National Board of Respiratory Care at time of hire.
    Physical Requirements
    This position requires regularly sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time; standing or walking with objects weighing up to 10 pounds; and lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to or over 50 pounds; intermittently standing or walking with objects weighing up to 25 pounds; performing tasks with repetitive motions (such as typing); and occasionally working at heights above four feet and/or in confined spaces. Also involves some exposure to risk of injury from moving, lifting, or positioning patients, equipment, or materials; and exposure to hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste, radiation, burns, cuts/punctures, blood-borne or airborne pathogens, and combative/violent people.
    Shift
    7:00am – 7:30pm. Weekends and holidays required.
    Job Summary
    The Lead Respiratory Therapist – Pediatrics is responsible for coordinating quality pediatric patient care needs throughout KCH, the Pediatric Emergency Department, and any other area requesting pediatric respiratory therapy support during a shift. The Lead Respiratory Therapist – Pediatrics provides clinical care to patients and serves as a clinical expert for staff. This position is also a liaison for patients, visitors, families, physicians, other hospital departments, and external ancillary services, communicating patient care, departmental and staff issues to the appropriate authority. This position is also responsible for staff scheduling, shift assignments, and timecard verification. This position is responsible for staff coaching, and also supports staff orientation, competency verification, training, and general professional development as directed by the Respiratory Manager – Pediatrics and Enterprise Director of Respiratory Services.
    Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
    The ideal candidate will have patient care experience, strong computer skills, previous Microsoft Office experience, and excellent communication skills.

    Preferred Education/Experience
    Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years pediatric ICU and level 4 neonatal ICU experience highly preferred.
