Job Summary
The University of Michigan, School of Nursing (UMSN) is seeking a highly motivated individual to support our research team as a Health Data Analyst. This individual will work with an interdisciplinary, collaborative team to evaluate the effects of disasters and community-level emergencies on health and healthcare utilization, and implement ways to support communities and individuals to prepare for and become resilient to the effects of these events.
This is a full-time, term-limited position due to salary funded on a grant.
Responsibilities*
(20%) Use advanced statistical methods to analyze data from a variety of sources, including large administrative databases across a national healthcare system.
(20%) Write efficient code for processing data utilizing tools such as Python, SQL, SAS, Stata, or R.
(20%) Create processes for assessing quality and accuracy of data.
(20%) Develop analysis plans under the supervision of the principal investigator.
(20%) Prepare statistical methods and results sections for presentations, reports, and manuscripts.

Supervision Received:
Supervision is received from the Principal Investigator (PI).
Required Qualifications*
Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field, such as biostatistics, statistics, epidemiology, mathematics, health informatics, or applied economics; master's degree or higher level degree strongly preferred.
Minimum of two (2) years of programming, data management, and/or analytics experience.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience using statistical packages such as Python, SAS, Stata, or R to manage data.
Candidate must stay up-to-date with emerging methods and the implementation of methods using statistical software.
Candidate must have excellent communication skills with the ability to receive and convey information clearly and concisely for various mediums, especially when describing complex statistical models and results. You will be expected to have solid interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of statistical methods.
Demonstrated intellectual flexibility to adapt to emerging results and research.
Demonstrated expertise in managing large and complex datasets.
Direct experience with managing and analyzing data.
Knowledge of RDBMS/SQL relational databases as well as non-relational databases.
Experience with large administrative healthcare data and complex survey design methods.
Excellent computer skills, including expert knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, and PowerPoint.
