Job Summary
The Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders in the College of Health at Cleveland State University invites applications for a full-time (9 month), tenure track Associate or Full Professor position beginning August 17, 2026.
This role is based on a nine-month academic year contract, with the potential for additional summer work on a supplemental contract. Duties include teaching both online and in-person classes at the graduate and undergraduate levels, engaging in scholarly research, seeking external grants and contributing to department, college, university and community service. This faculty role requires an on-campus presence, it is not a remote position.
The goal of this search is to add a promising scholar whose research interests focus on areas relevant to swallowing, voice disorders and neurogenic communication disorders. We seek a candidate with distinct and recognized expertise in the dysphagia of swallowing, voice and neurogenic communication disorders. The ideal candidate will have an ongoing research agenda that aligns with major extramural funding opportunities from federal sources (eg, NIH, CDC). We seek candidates with an excellent record of scholarship, teaching and service relative to the Associate Professor rank and commensurate with a R2 university. Preferred qualifications include experience with mentoring doctoral and master’s level graduate students in research relevant to communication disorders. It is expected the candidate will develop and maintain an extramurally funded research agenda.
The Department of CSU is rapidly growing with approximately 75 undergraduate students and 140 graduate students. The Department of CSD offers a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts degree in CSD. There is both a residential and distance education component for the MA program in Speech-Language Pathology.
The Department of CSD is housed in the College of Health (COH), which was formed in 2022, along with the Departments of Health Sciences & Human Performance, Music Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy and the Schools of Nursing and Social Work. Together, the COH offers more than 23 undergraduate and graduate academic programs in health professions and related certificate programs, all designed to provide clinical and experiential learning, inter professional practice and scholarship activities.
CSU aspires to be a national leader in social and economic mobility. We will be a great place to learn and work. CSU is striving to be a nationally recognized and student-focused public research institution that provides accessible, affordable and engaged learning opportunities for all.
