    Bowdoin College’s Department of Theater and Dance invites applications for a full-time benefits-eligible visiting assistant professor appointment in theater with a specialty in acting. The appointment begins July 1, 2026 and is a three-year position. We seek candidates with a record of professional work, who can blend theory with acting practice and acting for the camera at all levels of the curriculum. Bowdoin is particularly interested in candidates dedicated to undergraduate teaching. The teaching load is two courses per semester. One course each year will focus on voice and text, broadly construed and currently titled “Speaking Your Truth." Other courses, within and beyond the current curricular offerings, will be decided in conversation with the department. A PhD or MFA is expected by the date of appointment.
