Major/Essential Functions
Purchasing and budget tracking for research activities
Maintenance of compliance records for activities in research
Lab maintenance and organization
Perform data organization and analysis as instructed by lab principal investigator
Crosstrain graduate and undergraduate lab assistants on safe lab practices
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Communicate and work well with faculty, staff, and students orally and in writing
Able to learn and follow operational practices
Be self-motivated and able to maintain efficiency while working independently
Ability to problem-solve independently
Basic laboratory skills
Bird mist netting experience
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a specialized field and one year research experience. Knowledge of modern research practices, the methods, resources, and standards thereof.
Preferred Qualifications
MS in Biology or related field
Experience in biological research laboratory setting.
Experience and/or certification with safety procedures, personal protective equipment, and inspection protocols
Computational and analytical skills (with R and/or Python)
Extensive bird mist netting experience
Experience rearing insects
