Job Summary
Takes impressions and bite registrations.
Takes, develops, and mounts x-rays. Instruct students on taking x-rays.
Fits preliminary crowns for adjustments, create custom temporary restorations and place temporary restorative material in teeth.
Makes and fabricates temporary crown and adjust and cement.
Places and removes matrix retainers for alloy and composite restorations.
Places resin and amalgam restorations. Finishes and polishes restorations and adjust patient bite.
Performs expanded dental assistant functions and demonstrate correct procedures to students.
Sits chair side to pass instruments and support direct patient care as indicated by procedure.
Confirms that instruments are sterilized and working properly and organize them for procedures and/or surgery.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
High School diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
Completion of an accredited dental assisting training program AND 1 year of expanded dental assisting experience or assisting in a dental specialty OR
2 years of dental assisting experience AND Completion of an accredited dental assisting training program AND 1 year of expanded dental assisting experience or assisting in a dental specialty.

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires sedentary work as well as extended durations of moving about the workplace. It requires the ability to move objects and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, and the ability to discern between various objects and devices and to position patients.
