What We're Looking For
Baylor University is seeking a Program Manager for Academic Resources to support the mission and vision of the University within the Office of Student Success and Engagement by overseeing the Academic Mentor Program by supervising and managing an average of 12 Graduate students serving as Academic Mentors by running day-to-day operations. Connects students with academic resources offered by this office that supports learning, encourages development of effective study strategies, and provides the coordination required for effective delivery of academic support programs and services.
A Bachelor’s Degree and two years of relevant work experience is required. A Master’s Degree and three years of relevant work experience is preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of one another.
Applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States on a Full-Time basis.
What You Will Do
Plan, develop, and implement the Academic Mentor Program
Supervise, hire, train, schedule and evaluate graduate students serving as academic mentors
Serve as the primary point of contact on the day-to-day management
Coordinate the assigning of students, monitoring of mentee attendance, and assisting the mentors with any issues brought up by the mentees
Conduct weekly staff meetings with the academic mentors
Provide on-going training as policies and procedures are updated to ensure best practices
Assist students in identifying their academic needs and in accessing appropriate resources for improving their academic performance
Provide resources/academic success strategies as requested by individual students, parent, faculty, and staff by means of one-on-one consultations, workshops, and presentations
Provide holistic support to improve student's overall well-being by assessing their physical, mental, emotional, and social aspects
Establish relationships with internal and external clients to provide support for University programs
Coordinate the operation and development of the Learning Lab which entails scheduling and monitoring of the graduate students, providing resources such as study skills books and/or handouts for both the graduate students running the center and the undergraduate students receiving services from the Learning Lab
Develop strategic actions and resources to meet program goals
Manage and maintain Academic Mentor files and databases (Navigate and Ignite), program operating budget, and student worker fund budget
Prepare end-of-semester reports
Contribute information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews by reporting our end-of-semester results
Collaborate with upper-level management to develop opportunities that will improve program success
Provide support for all employees involved with University programs
Assist with departmental budget processes by projecting needs for the new budget year
Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission
Ability to comply with university policies
Maintain regular and punctual attendance
