    The Allied Health Technical Specialist, Diagnostic Imaging Equipment Testing is a critical role focused on ensuring the optimal function and safety of diagnostic imaging equipment within the University of Michigan Health. This position assists our medical diagnostic physicists in the coordination and performance of quality control tests on a variety of imaging technologies. Areas of focus include x-ray, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, breast imaging, ultrasound, and dental equipment. This specialist is responsible for maintaining precise records of these tests and collaborating effectively with a diverse team of medical professionals, including medical physicists, radiologists, clinical engineers, and technologists.

    Responsibilities*
    Assists in the performance of initial and annual quality control (QC) testing of x-ray, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, breast imaging, ultrasound, and dental equipment.
    Performs regular testing of reading room and modality workstation display monitors.
    Partners with clinical engineering to ensure issues identified during QC testing are addressed.
    Maintains awareness of QC testing due dates and works to schedule equipment within required timeframes to support regulatory compliance.
    Coordinates QC testing activities with equipment owners.
    Maintains detailed and accurate records of all QC tests.
    Assists with the development of new tools for the performance of QC tests.
    Manages the departmental shared drive where all QC testing documents are stored.
    Creates and sends reports related to QC testing results to equipment owners in a timely fashion.
    Assists in providing QC testing documents when requested for a survey or inspection.
    Conducts testing of radiation protective apparel (e.g., aprons, skirts, vests, thyroid shield, and gonadal shields).
    Travels, as needed, to all sites of service.
    Required Qualifications*
    Bachelor's degree in an allied health discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    Reasonable experience in healthcare.
    Reasonable experience in a specialty lab may be required
    Computer skills (e.g., working knowledge of Word, Excel or similar software)
    The ability to work independently for some tasks as well as the ability to work as part of a team for others.
    Professional verbal and written communication skills.
    Desired Qualifications*
    Experience using radiation measuring equipment.
    Experience operating fluoroscopic x-ray equipment.
    Advanced data analysis skills.
    Imaging equipment testing experience.
    Knowledge of diagnostic imaging.
