POSITION: The Fine Arts Division of Bethany College invites applications for tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of Art to begin Fall 2025. Ideal candidates will have experience in teaching art history courses along with demonstrated 2D studio skills in painting, drawing, printmaking, graphic design applications and the ability to manage art gallery operations also a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS: The position includes a 24-credit annual teaching load. Successful candidates will teach the art history sequencing courses, courses in the 2D area, and manage the art gallery as needed.
Additional responsibilities include contributing to the continuous collection of materials for curriculum assessment and providing academic advising to students. Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong commitment to student recruitment efforts, which may include actively participating in recruitment events and building relationships with local high schools and community organizations. The successful candidate will also engage with the local arts community and foster connections that support the program and the college.

QUALIFICATIONS: In-process or completed MA or MFA in 2D Art Practice or MA/MS in Art History with demonstrated art practice is required. Industry experience is a plus. Demonstrated excellence in teaching is essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across disciplines.
SALARY: Contingent upon experience.
DIVISION: The Art program within the Fine Arts Division at Bethany College currently offers the B.A. in six majors: 3D Computer Animation, Pre-Professional Art Therapy, Studio Art, Studio Art with a Graphic Design Focus, Video Game Design, and Visual Art Administration. In addition, it supports the Secondary Education in Art major.
