General Description
Arkansas State University-Beebe, a comprehensive two-year community college within the Arkansas State University System, is seeking a Vice Chancellor for Academics (VCA). As the College’s chief academic officer (CAO), the Vice Chancellor for Academics reports to the Chancellor, serves as a member of the College’s executive leadership team, and has the primary responsibility for the promotion of academic excellence in the faculty and academic programs of the College. Departments supervised by this position include Career Education, Math and Science, Arts and Humanities, Workforce and Community Development, Distance Education, Adult Education, Library, and Institutional Accreditation.
A successful candidate will demonstrate experience in and commitment to the comprehensive community college mission; student success; shared governance; continuous quality improvement; and the use of data for decision making. In addition, ASU-Beebe seeks a VCA/CAO committed to communication, transparency, and collaboration within and among all areas of supervision and among all divisions and senior leadership of the College.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and implement collaborative strategies to drive innovation focusing on enrollment growth and student success including retention, persistence, completion, transfer, and employment.
Effectively manage resources and provide budgetary oversight for all academic functions.
Oversee and review policy and procedures related to instruction and recommend changes of the same in consultation with division faculty and staff.
Provide leadership, mentoring, and management of personnel including hiring, assignment, transfers, training, professional development, evaluation, and termination of employees with Academics.
Execute a systematic and regular program review process tied to short and long range planning and budgeting.
Provide leadership in the development of new market-driven instructional programs.
Facilitate assessment of student outcomes and ensure the results are used to improve teaching and learning.
Oversee and support initiatives to ensure the College’s compliance with the requirements established by the Arkansas Department of Higher Education, the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), and all other institutional and program accrediting agencies.
Participate in ASU system and state organizations (Arkansas Department of Higher Education, Arkansas Community Colleges, etc.) meetings and activities, and collaborate with colleagues across the state to promote improved educational attainment rates for all citizens across the state.
Actively engage business and industry partners in advisory committees and other collaborative efforts to advance programmatic outcomes.
Represent the College and actively participate in community, legislative, and public activities that support and strengthen the College’s programs and mission.
Collaborate with the Chancellor and the leadership team members in advancing the mission and strategic priorities of the College.
Required Qualifications
Qualifications:
• Earned doctorate from a regionally accredited institution
• Three years of progressive management experience in academics
• Three years of college level teaching experience
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Demonstrated comfort with change, innovation, and technology
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a leadership position at a multi-campus, comprehensive community college is preferred.
Minimum Salary or Salary Range Commensurate with experience
