  • Job Summary
    The System Administrator II provides advanced technical support for the University’s IT infrastructure, including installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of systems hardware, software, and related components. This role ensures the stability, availability, and security of critical systems to support administrative and academic operations while aligning with the Division’s mission to deliver reliable and efficient technology services.
    Job Duties
    Duties & Responsibilities:
    Install, configure, and maintain systems infrastructure components, including servers, storage, networking devices, and virtualization platforms, to support university operations.
    Monitor and troubleshoot system performance, availability, and capacity to ensure optimal functionality and timely issue resolution.
    Perform routine backups and disaster recovery tasks and implement measures to safeguard critical systems and data in compliance with organizational IT policies and standards.
    Apply security patches, firmware upgrades, and configuration updates to maintain compliance with information security policies and industry standards.
    Support identity and access management (IAM) processes, including account provisioning, role-based access controls, and periodic access reviews.
    Research and recommend improvements to system standards, procedures, and configurations to enhance operational efficiency and align with industry best practices.
    Provide Tier 2 technical support to resolve escalated issues and collaborate with Tier 3 technical support teams on complex incidents or projects.
    Perform other duties as assigned
    Requested Minimum Qualifications
    Education:
    A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university is required.

    Experience:
    At least three (3) years of relevant professional experience with an IT Industry certification(s).
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
    Other Preferences for Consideration
    A Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Computer Science, MIS, Information Technology, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
    Knowledge and experience in some or most of the following technical areas: DNS, IPAM, Microsoft Active Directory / Entra ID, Azure, SCCM, SCOM, M365, Google Workspace, virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, Citrix), firewalls, software patch management, backup & recovery tools, and scripting language(s).
    Experience with networking, converged systems, such as blade systems, clustering, and load balancing.
    Proficiency in collaborating with vendors to ensure accurate configuration of hardware and software.

    Experience Preferred:
    Proficiency in areas such as server technologies, networking devices, virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V), Microsoft Active Directory / Entra ID, cloud infrastructure technologies (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP), and scripting (e.g., PowerShell).
    Hands-on experience with converged systems, clustering, load balancing, and virtual networking.
    Experience collaborating with vendors for hardware and software configuration.
    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    A minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in IT systems engineering or a related field.
    Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic IT environment.
