The Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a Director of Admissions. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.
The Office of the Dean, at the Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine is the administrative and student services office for the College. The individual holding this position is an integral member of the College, responsible for directing, developing, and managing professional student recruitment for the Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine. This position directs the admission process for the DVM program, with a full range of responsibilities including admissions, orientation, student recruitment, program planning, and advising. The incumbent provides strategic leadership and direction for professional student recruitment and admissions process.
This position coordinates and manages over 2,000 applications annually for the 96 available seats in each admitted cohort, builds internal and external relationships related to student recruitment and admissions, and directs the activities of the Admissions Committee. This position strategically supports the Dean’s Office through developing and executing the recruitment endeavors for the college and represents the CCVM and the university to a wide range of audiences.
This position develops, monitors, and tracks the admissions diversity and inclusion objectives for the college. This position provides admissions advising to prospective students, support to the incoming first year cohort through collaboration with the university admissions and financial aid offices, and plans the multi-day orientation to the program. This position supervises one classified full-time employee as well as over 20 student workers that compromise the CCVM Student Ambassador Program and the staff of the Summer Veterinary Experience.

What You Will Need
Master’s degree in College Student Services Administration, or closely related field.
Two years of professional work experience in admissions, student services, student recruitment, or related work.
Technological experience and demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Demonstrated experience with additional technology applications including Google Drive and database software.
Ability to work independently and confidentially.
Demonstrated experience in creating and conducting presentations and demonstrated ability in program planning and administration.
Demonstrated excellent attention to detail.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, and experience in public speaking, including speaking to a variety of audiences from differing backgrounds and perspectives.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply laws, rules, policies, procedures and other guidelines.
Strong decision-making skills, including setting priorities against established criteria and managing multiple projects/activities/deadlines.
A demonstrable commitment to promoting student success across a diverse student body with varying backgrounds and learning needs.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.
