About the Role: Medical Review Coordinator As a Medical Review Coordinator at the Utah Lions Eye Bank, you’ll play a crucial role in evaluating the medical history of potential eye donors to determine their eligibility for transplantation. Your responsibilities will include completing donor charts, reviewing medical records, and applying your knowledge of medical standards and regulations to ensure donor suitability. Additionally, you will assist in training staff and enhancing our donor evaluation processes.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
Performing medical reviews of potential eye donor charts to assess eligibility for transplantation
Releasing donor charts for research and discard purposes
Training staff on donor chart completion and the release process for research.
Ensure compliance with regulations and policies, uphold ethical standards, maintains confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations, follow established quality assurance policies, and participate in required training.
Providing real time feedback to staff related to donor chart completion and coordination; provide summary reports to respective leaders
Problem Solving:
Incumbents in this position are expected to be familiar with the department’s policies and procedures and have working knowledge of University and department organizations and procedures in order to answer and assist staff and visitors. Incumbents are also expected to demonstrate sensitivity to others’ needs while being understanding and helpful on the job.

Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s degree in a related field, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience), plus two years of related experience required; ability to use logic and reasoning to prioritize tasks; computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet software, and/or database software preferred; demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills also required.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field may be preferred.
This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements. Preferences
Associate’s degree in biology, chemistry or other scientific discipline in a related field or equivalency required. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required.
Experience with medical terminology also preferred.
This position is eligible to obtain Certified Eye Bank Technician certificate.
Each Medical Review Coordinator completes a formal training period prior to assuming these responsibilities
