RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide counseling (advising, responding, reviewing, verifying, and exercising professional judgment) for prospective and current students (and their parents when applicable) regarding available federal, state, institutional and external sources of financial aid in support of the academic mission of UW-Stout. This position will also have programmatic duties within the scope of the financial aid office operations as it relates to veteran benefits/payment, tuition remission, and graduate assistantships. Must maintain a sophisticated understanding of the federal needs analysis, financial aid application process, and federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies. Ability to present comprehensive financial aid and budgeting counseling to individuals and groups. Must be willing to maintain knowledge through regular training through national and state financial aid organization membership, UW System, and the Department of Education. Ability to perform work under pressure to meet student service and operational demands, while maintaining service standards. Flexibility to work additional hours during peak demand.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum / Required
Bachelor's degree or 5+ years professional experience in a financial aid office
Word and Excel experience
Highly Desired
1+ years professional experience in higher education
Knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations
Experience using a student information system (PeopleSoft, Banner, etc.)
Experience using ImageNow

The Office of Financial Aid and Student Employment is the provider of a variety of services with a student-centered approach, and continuously seeks to improve the quality, efficiency, and timeliness of the financial aid process. We work collaboratively with other offices to ensure compliance with aid regulations, and award aid in a fair and equitable manner to all. We are part of the Enrollment and Quality division, and support division and university goals.
