Job Description:
The Department of Sociology & Anthropology in the College of Social & Behavioral Sciences at Weber State University seeks a full-time instructor in anthropology with training in cultural or linguistic anthropology. The successful candidate should demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate education and the needs of a large student body in the context of a dual-mission public university. This is a one-year position with the possibility of renewal at the sole discretion of the university based on performance and funding availability. The appointment will be effective July 1, 2025 and will entail teaching responsibilities during the 2025-26 academic year (Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters).

The teaching load for this position is 12-credit hours per semester (four 3 credit hour courses) and will consist primarily of introductory courses in anthropology (four-field) and linguistic anthropology. Opportunities to teach other courses will be based on expertise and departmental needs.
Additional duties include committee or other service activities to department or college as needed.
Required Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. in anthropology, sociocultural or linguistic anthropology by the position start date.
One year equivalent of experience college / university teaching.

We seek a cultural or linguistic anthropologist with an active, ethnographically-grounded research agenda who can teach introductory anthropology, linguistic anthropology, and other upper-division courses in their area of expertise.
A record of and commitment to teaching excellence, experience integrating technology into pedagogy, and the ability to engage with and mentor students from a variety of backgrounds.
A record of research productivity as demonstrated by scholarly presentations and peer-reviewed publications.
