JOB PURPOSE:
Howard University seeks a Systems Analyst to ensure optimal system functionality, including testing of system implementations releases, and upgrades, to aid in the administration and successful maintenance of student billing, refunds, and collections within the various systems supporting the Office of the Bursar. This overall support will include assessing complex issues, creating and maintaining reports, evaluating business processes and rules, and providing technical assistance that supports the overall advancement of effective technological solutions within the department. The right candidate will possess advanced programming skills, experience working with Banner, Workday, and/or other ERP systems, and have the ability to work independently to achieve deadlines and desired outcomes.

Excellent data analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail. Demonstrated technical proficiency with ability to quickly learn and adapt to various systems/platforms. Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision; excellent decision-making and judgement skills. Ability to work in a positive manner with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Collaborates with Enterprise Technology Services to ensure successful data migration, implementation, configuration, reporting, and integrated technology services in support of student accounts, including refunding, collections, accounting, and billing
Serves as an interface between functional users and technical resources, coordinating with technical resources to resolve system problems
Works closely with colleagues from other business areas within HU to ensure system processes and technology integrate appropriately and changes that impact other areas are done collaboratively
Researches, tests and implements software systems, assuring functionality that meets user expectations
Provides functional and technical support for Workday and Banner ERP systems and third-party applications
Provides stakeholders with necessary analysis information and conducts walkthroughs of system functionality with business users when needed for buy-in, leadership decision, training, and implementation
Analyzes the impact on business processes resulting from implementation, updates, and upgrades/enhancements of the system and ensures business process changes align with best practices
Manages data and assists in the creation of reporting tools throughout the development of data sets, including dashboards and instructions, for users and executive management
Manages roles and permissions in the Workday Student Financials system and other Bursar Office relevant systems
Assists with developing documentation of operational procedures and business functionality of enterprise financial systems
Develops test plans and conducts system/integration testing, tests changes, enhancements, and new programs or functions to ensure they meet business needs
Other duties and ad-hoc system-related and project tasks as designed
CORE COMPETENCIES:
Strong proficiency in Workday and Banner
Experience working with functional and technical aspects of student information systems.
Experience working in a higher education setting
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher learning; combinations of related education and experience may be considered. 3-5 years of related work experience with a primary focus on data management and analysis required. 1+ year of progressively responsible systems experience.
