Job Summary
Graduate Assistantship Overview
Elmhurst University welcomes applications for a graduate assistantship in Computer Science and Information Systems for the spring 2025 semester, with possibility of renewal for the 2025-2026 academic year. This is a student position. Interested applicants must either be already enrolled in a degree-granting graduate program at Elmhurst University or have submitted an application for admission into a degree-granting graduate program at elmhurst.edu/graduatestudies and be accepted before becoming eligible for consideration for a graduate assistant position that correlates with their area of study.
Graduate assistants at Elmhurst University may be hired for a full tuition waiver based on 20 hours of service per week. Graduate assistants also receive a stipend while they are working, paid bi-weekly, in support of their continued education. Graduate assistants participate in their assistantships during the Fall and/or Spring semesters and may be required to participate during January and/or Summer terms.
Eligible Graduate Programs: Master’s in Computer Information Technology (MCIT); MS in Data Science and Analytics.
Weekly Hours: 20
Tuition Waiver: Full
Stipend: $2,500 stipend for spring 2025 semester, paid as $625 per month February – May. ($5,000 annual stipend, paid as $625 per month September – December and February – May, if renewed for the 2025-2026 academic year.)
Terms: Spring 2025 semester. (With possibility of renewal for the 2025-26 academic year, for eligible continuing student.)
Special Notation: Offers for this position are conditional upon acceptance into one of the above noted graduate programs at Elmhurst University. Graduate students must maintain full-time enrollment in their graduate program in order to maintain a graduate assistantship.
Nature of Work
The Elmhurst University Department of Computer Science and Information Systems seeks a graduate assistant for the spring 2025 semester, beginning mid-February 2025, to provide technical support to faculty in their work with MCIT students and undergraduate students. The graduate assistant must have working knowledge of programming, visual studio, and IT systems and must be enrolled in an eligible master’s program at Elmhurst University. This is a 20-hour per week position during the spring 2025 semester.
Salary Range $2,500 stipend for spring 2025 semester
Essential Functions
Works with assigned faculty to:
Download, extract, and execute code in .zip files containing visual studio projects;
Run Windows’ Batch files or Linux shell scripts to evaluate extracted code;
Prepare and save evaluation results for faculty review and feedback to students.
Manages student and faculty accounts associated with classes in Microsoft Azure or similar cloud systems.
Provides other technical support for faculty in their teaching of classes as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.
Documented technical knowledge necessary to execute essential functions.

Employee is typically subject to indoor work, though some outdoor work may be required. Physical activities include repetitive motion and exerting up to 10 pounds of force in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
