  • About the Department
    The College Office of Finance and Business Management (OFBM) is responsible for delivering and supporting the full complement of business and financial services to the College of Sciences. The unit is also responsible for long-range financial planning and the strategic direction of the fiscal operations of the College. The College has six departments as well as several centers and institutes, including units that perform significant outreach activities.     Essential Job Duties
    As the Business Services Coordinator in the College of Sciences’ Office of Finance and Business Management (OFBM), you’ll work closely with the Assistant Dean and other staff to support financial transaction initiation and approval, reporting, and budget management, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in day-to-day financial operations.

    Key Responsibilities:
    Manage financial activity, budgets, and reporting for the College, including Dean’s Office units.
    Oversee and reconcile the Dean’s spending budgets across State Appropriations, Foundation Funds, and Gifts/Endowments.
    Serve as the primary backup for the Accountant in the College’s Advancement Office.
    Process and approve financial transactions, including requisitions, vouchers, and P-Card reconciliations.
    Provide backup support for financial transactions in academic departments during vacancies.
    Ensure compliance with university policies, regulations, and financial best practices.
    Assist in submitting additional compensation requests, particularly summer salary for faculty members.
    Collaborate with key stakeholders, including the Dean’s Office and Advancement Office, to maintain financial efficiency.
    Provide administrative support to the Assistant Dean and unit which includes maintaining OFBM’s website and content, ordering supplies, and planning training sessions

    Qualifications
    Minimum Experience/Education
    Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
    All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
    Other Required Qualifications
    Proven ability to enforce policies consistently and effectively within financial and administrative operations.
    Commitment to implementing best practices in business operations, demonstrated through process improvements or compliance adherence.
    Ability to manage budgets using established tools, process and monitor financial transactions, reconcile accounts, audit financial records, and maintain account structures.
    Strong attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and handle confidential information with accuracy and discretion.
    Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a high level of accuracy in financial and administrative tasks.
    Demonstrated analytical and organizational skills, including experience managing multiple tasks or projects simultaneously.
    Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, with experience identifying and resolving routine issues using established guidelines.
    Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to convey financial information clearly and concisely.
    Ability to draft communications for non-routine financial matters and collaborate with team members to finalize messaging.
    Experience working collaboratively in a team environment, taking initiative, and independently managing projects requiring introductory or routine financial knowledge.
    Proficiency in Google Workspace applications, ERP financial and human resource systems, and a willingness to learn new budget and financial management tools adopted by the office.

    Preferred Qualifications
    Experience interpreting and applying federal, state, and university policies, procedures, and regulations, with a willingness to stay updated on changes.
