    Essential Functions

    Goals:

    Manage admissions process including reviewing admissions submissions via PharmCAS, creating admission packets, scheduling interviews, and creating and sending out admissions letters.
    Working in conjunction with the UTEP Office of Admissions and Recruitment.
    Initiative would focus on building relationships with accepted applicants. Possibly sending welcome packs.
    “Welcome” activities will provide opportunities to connect applicants with students, ask questions, meet with financial aid officer, tour the facility, and meet faculty members.
    Collect contact and engagement data on prospective students.
    Generate excitement for our program and the profession.
    Increase the PharmD applicant pool.
    Appropriately measure and increase diversity in the applicant pool.
    Successful campaigns must begin early in a student’s educational career and be responsive to environmental changes. Success requires the development of a series of significant touchpoints.
    Job Responsibilities

    The Assistant Director will plan, implement and assess outreach and recruitment programs/efforts for the PharmD program in the School of Pharmacy under the direction of the OSA Director and in consultation with School leadership. This individual will plan and coordinate participation in Graduate School Fairs and speaker requests, manage all administrative aspects of our participation in outreach and recruitment initiatives including recruitment of faculty, staff, students and alumni to serve as ambassadors of the PharmD program. This position will develop relationships with undergraduate Health and Science Professions advisors who work with students in preparing them for admission to pharmacy school. These relationships cultivate access to prospective undergraduate students and, ultimately, application to our program. The Assistant Director plans and presents events for prospective students online, locally, and throughout the state and works closely with the Communications unit to develop publications, and messaging through social media which reflects the Schools branding efforts.

    The Assistant Director attends professional conferences, symposia, meetings, fairs, etc. with the goal of successfully recruiting applicants to the PharmD program. The Assistant Director will develop and nurture relationships with feeder institutions and will need to converse authoritatively about pharmacy education, both one-on-one and with large groups. The Assistant Director will monitor and evaluate success of recruitment strategies in conjunction with the OSA Director, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, and Dean.

    Compiles and submits reports as required by management, state, local, and federal regulatory agencies.

    Acts as liaison between department and internal or external customers.

    Participates in various committees, professional trainings, industry conferences, and conventions.

    Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems.

    Complies with all State and University policies.

    Other duties may be assigned.

    Supervisory Responsibilities: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's objectives, policies and applicable laws.

    Qualifications
    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

    Required Qualifications:

    Education: Bachelor's Degree.

    and

    Experience: Three (3) years of related experience and training to the statement of duties and responsibilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Occasional traveling required.
